World Resources Institute (WRI) research from 14 forest-rich countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia concludes that communities "maintain or enhance the carbon storage of their forests" when they own them.
Under the auspices of the United Nations, World Environment Day 2021 will be held this year in Pakistan. Its theme is "Restoring Ecosystems" and it will focus on restoring our relationship with nature. Indigenous peoples now number 476 million in 90 countries.
